Summary
This fragment is the only evidence of the existence of a Middle Dutch translation of the French chivalric epic Chanson d'Aspremont. The surviving fragment contains Charlemagne's battle with the Saracen king Eaumont, who massacred the French with Roelant's sword Durendal. Research showed that the Middle Dutch translation closely followed its Old French source. (Flandrica 2021)
