Summary

Two vertical strips from a copy of Orosius’ Historia adversum paganos libri vii. FMS/2 is from the middle of a leaf whereas FMS/2a shows part of the text and the inner margin. In both cases, it seems that the text was presented in a single column of 36 long lines.

No rubrication or decoration is seen on FMS/2a, but on the recto of FMS/2 a large, decorated initial is partly seen on a purple background with sections in red, blue, green and yellow (15 lines deep). Some of the other letters in that same word were filled in with red and yellow ink. Rubrics also in red (explicit and incipit).

Both strips seem to have been part of the same manuscript as FMS/1.

The text includes:

FMS/2:

  • Recto: vol. II, lib.: 6, cap.: 22, par.: 9 - vol. III, lib.: 7, cap.: 1, par.: 3
  • Verso: vol. III, lib.: 7, cap.: 1, par.: 3 - par.: 11

FMS/2a

  • Recto: vol. II, lib.: 6, cap.: 20, par.: 3 - par.: 8
  • Verso: vol. II, lib.: 6, cap.: 19, par.: 15 - cap.: 20, par.: 3
