Summary

All three bifolia were folded around the bookblock. The first bifolium is used as front pastedown but the lower section also appears in the inner margin of the lower pastedown. The second bifolium is placed perpendicularly to the first one, along the upper margin of the manuscript, and reinforces both the upper and lower pastedown. The third bifolium was originally used as lower pastedown, but is now loose.

A pencil note on the upper flyleaf suggests that the binding was made by a well-known Ghent bookbinder from the middle of the 15th century: 'Lievin Stuvaert boekband'. Although a Stuvaert signature or name stamp is lacking (as is found in many of the volumes he bound), the binding features a fleur-de-lys, which is a typical motif used by Stuvaert but it is unclear whether is is indeed his stamp.
