Summary
The strips serve as sewing guards in the middle of the quires. The host volume Cod. 3829 was written in mid 15th c. in Bavaria or Austria. The binding was produced most probably in Mondsee, since it used to have as binding waste other Mondsee fragments (see Ser. n. 2762, ff. 1-3, which served once as pastedowns and sewing guards).
