Reconstruction Summary

An offset of a now-missing leaf of the Gottschalk Antiphonal, written and illustrated by Gottschalk of Lambach at and for the use of the Stiftsbibliothek Lambach (Upper Austria) in the late twelfth century. The offset is not entirely legible, and so while the size, script, and notation are consistent with the Gottschalk Antiphonal, the identification of the Offices preserved on the leaf is uncertain. The incunable (Hain-Copinger 13940: Sánchez de Arévalo, Rodrigo (1404-1470), Speculum vitae humanae [Augsburg : Günther Zainer, January 11, 1471]) is bound in fifteenth-century blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, bindery unidentified. It was later owned by "Monasterij Schyrensis," C. S. Ascherson, and George Dunn "of Woolley Hall near Maidenhead." It was given to the Beinecke Library "in memory of Imrie de Vegh" in 1965. The offset was discovered by Elizabeth Hebbard in 2014 and identified by Lisa Fagin Davis that same year. [incipit illegible]...Vult]um tuum deprecabuntur.../...[P]r[etio]sa in conspectu [domini mors] sanctorum eius...[explicit illegible]
