Reconstruction Summary

The body of the letter E as a parted initial is characteristic of the 14th century. However, the depth of the shading of the floral motifs and tendrils suggests a dating of the initial in the first half of the 15th century. It is therefore possible that the decoration to the initial was added at a later date.
