Sub-project
Thousands of uncatalogued fragments are published on the internet as part of the bindings of manuscripts and early printed works. Automated Armchair Fragmentology (AAF) aims to explore the possibilities of leveraging IIIF and automated technologies, bringing fragments to the attention of researchers. The focus of AAF falls on the early prints published on e-rara: the platform for digitized rare books from Swiss institutions,
The fragments in the collection typically do not have reference images, and therefore measurements are lacking. The summaries provided combine metadata on the host volume from the corresponding e-rara page with some quick observations on date, localization and genre.
