"Kalends Aoust S Pierre.../...S' Fiacre S' Paulin"; Calendar for the month of August from a fifteenth century book of hours known as the St. Alexis Hours. Dates of Interest -- August 12: Crown of Thorns, as celebrated in Paris, August 27: St. George, Aurelius and Natalia, translation of relics as celebrated in Paris. Full border of acanthus and rinceaux in color with birds and other plants. Roundel miniature in the outer central margin of recto and verso. Recto: a man raising a farm tool above his head and bushels of grain (Labor of the Month: Threshing) Verso: a woman in a blue dress holding a large feather and bushels of grain (the zodiac sign Virgo).
