Summary
The fragment, gifted to the Library in 2009, was acquired from Michael Treloar Antiquarian Booksellers.
Contents: The fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and opening of the ninth prayer of the set of fifteen prayers traditionally ascribed to St Birgitta (or Bridget) of Sweden.
Decoration: five 2-line dentelle initials in gold set on blue or rose grounds with infills in the alternate colour and featuring white cross design. Beginning initial of each verse heightened in red. The text is framed with full borders of fifteenth-century floral-acanthus motif design. There are corner clusters of acanthus in blue and gold, ivy tendrils coiling around the margins, intertwined with hairline sprays terminating in gold dots, flowers and berries.
