Summary

These two bifolia served once as binding waste. They belong to Vienna, ÖNB, Cod. 1014. The homiliary probably consisted originally of two volumes, which were joined together during the rebinding in the 15th c. Our two bifolia belonged to the last quire of the first volume - a Ternio - which presumably got lost and, to judge by their state, used later as binding waste. Some five centuries later, the librarians in the ÖNB must have recognized the similarities between the fragments and Cod. 1014 rejoined the two bifolia. Cod. 1014 was however already foliated, hence the ex-fragments received the numbers ff. 190a bis 190d. This must have happened between 1923 and 1961, since the description of J. Hermann (Illuminierte Handschriften, p. 176) gives 198 fols. while H. Barré (L'Homiliaire carolingien de Mondsee, Revue Bénédictine 71 (1961): 71-107) counted 202 fols. and mentioned specifically fol. 190a bis 190d.
