When the abbeys of Thurgau were secularized in 1848, their manuscripts and early prints entered the collection of Cantonal Library of Thurgau. These books contained numerous fragments, may of which are contained, detached or in situ, in the library. This project examined the Library’s loose fragments and those in situ in manuscripts (described in the forthcoming catalogue prepared by Binotto, Führer, Jacsont, et. al.), incunables (noted in Luginbühl and Bothien, Meisterwerke des frühen Buchdrucks, 2011), and post-incunables (by conducting a binding survey). With the publication of spectacular findings on Fragmentarium, the project showcases its results and encourages continuing research in the fragments of the Lake Constance Region.
