Anthology of excerpts from L. Annaei Seneca and other theological texts
F-za50
Translated from German, with additions, by Pannini.
General Information
Southern littera textualis, written by a single hand except for the excerpt from Gregorius Magnus, Dialogi (fol. 4r), which is written by a second, probably later hand. There are also some marginalia in a cursive script throughout the fragment, and later marginalia at the bottom of fol. 5r and 25r.
Water damage
Original Condition
Modern ff. 1–25; there are also signs of a previous pencil numeration at the beginning of each quire: at fol. 1r the number 108, at fol. 11r the number 118, at fol. 21r the number 128 and at fol. 25r the number 132. The third quire displays also an additional numeration of the folia, traced with pencil, which starts with 1 at fol. 21r and ends with 5 at 25r.
Current Condition
The fragment is composed of three quires: 110 (fol. 1–10), 210 (fol. 11–20), 35 (fol. 21–25) and it shows signs of a repair to reinforce the binding. On the first leaf someone noted “C.m.h.l. 257”, probably a previous shelfmark.
Book Decoration and Musical Notation
Color red is used to mark the incipit of the different excerpts with rubricae and a larger initial; one-line penwork initials in red are used to mark the beginning of the sentence.
