Book Decoration and Musical Notation

Description

Scrolling acanthus and flowers in gold and colors in outer margins (full border at beginning of major sections); One- to two-line initials in gold leaf alternating blue with red or vice versa; line fillers in red and blue with gold accents. One extant miniature.

Book of Hours, likely Use of Paris (suggested by the inclusion of a sufferage for St. Denis and the ancillary texts.

Provenance

Dismembered by Otto and Louise in the mid-twentieth-century. Many leaves as no. 50 in the "Fifty Original Leaves from Medieval Manuscripts" portfolios.
