Gregorius IX, Decretales, with added notes
Books I and II
F-qmdd
General Information
Main text block and glosses of the original bifolia in a gothica textualis libraria (s. XIV), with a strong tendency towards a semitextualis. The execution of the letter 'a' alternates between a double compartment and a single compartment letter 'a'. In the glosses, the 'a' is most often realised with one compartment. However, that may be the result of small (and rapid) writing. Text of the added bifolia in a gothica cursiva currens (s. XV).
The fragment consists of a quinio with 3 original bifolia (s. XIV) alternating with 2 added bifolia (s. XV). The quire has an unwritten paper wrapper. The outer, third and inner bifolium are the original ones (fol. 1; 3; 5; 6; 8; 10). The second and fourth bifolium are sewn in later (fol. 2; 4; 7; 9). The quire must have functioned as a loose booklet. Antwerp, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, Verzameling Losse Aanwinsten, nr. 15.19 has a similar structure (but no wrapper around the quire).
Original Condition
The description above is based on the original bifolia (not on the additions).
