The letter touches upon a conflict between the count of Bloi and the bishopric of Liège regarding the forests of Chimay. The lordship of Chimay was in the hands of the count of Blois at the time. Most of the area around Chimay was controlled by the bishopric of Liège, which might have lead to conflicts as the one mentioned in the letter.

In the letter, Guy proposes several solutions to put the conflict to an end.
