    History

    Origin

    The rhombic musical notations suggest the Bohemian origin of the fragment.

    Provenance

    The host manuscript was copied at the Jesuit College of Trnava (present-day Slovakia), in 1660, as indicated by the note "Sub P. Francisco Raulin" (f. 1r). Franciscus Raulin taught physics and metaphysics at this college in 1659/1660 (Karl A. F. Fischer, ‘Die Kaschauer und Tyrnauer Jesuiten-Universitäten im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert — Namenslisten der Professoren’, Ungarn-Jahrbuch 15 (1987), 153).
