Partie II, Book VII, Chapter 12, 17-19, 60, 63, 65
F-mwfz
Additional notes by Roos in't Velt, Vlaamse Erfgoedbibliotheken, 2023.
General Information
Northern gothica textualis libraria.
The fragment is a remnant of the same manuscript as Leiden, University Library, Ltk. 177 (fragment-Serrure) (cf. Croenen 1992, 272)
Original Condition
The reconstruction of the original condition is based on Croenen (1992, 75-76). The fragment is a remnant of one of the two only known manuscripts of the Spiegel historiael with a four-column layout, a layout that is very rare for Middle Dutch manuscripts.
Current Condition
The fragment consists of a part of the lower half of a bifolium, with c. 42 lines per column remaining (the bifolium was, roughly, cut in half horizontally). Fol. [2] has preserved its original width. Of fol. [1] only a strip remains, ca. 1/5th of the original page width. The fragment must have functioned as cover or a wrapper of a register with a stiff cover (identity unknown).
Book Decoration and Musical Notation
Pen-flourished initials (initials in red, pen-flourishes in blue), plain initials (blue), rubrics (red), colour stroking (red)
