Content Description
The legible text on the back cover mentions the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, as well as those of the virgin saints Attala and Barbara, meaning that the fragmented leaf contained the month of December. Their feast days are the 8th (Immaculate Conception), 3rd (Attala), and 4th of December (Barbara).

Remarks
The side of the leaf glued to the cover lists Attala and Barbara, whereas the Immaculate Conception is on the outer side.
History
The mention of the locally worshipped saint Attala (679-741) places the fragment in Strasbourg, where she was abbess of the Benedictine convent of St Stephen's.
The original codex the fragment belonged to was probably cut up and reused locally by a Strasbourg bookbinder/stationer, since the host volume was printed in Strasbourg as well.
Host Volume
The host volume is part of the Herlufsholm Collection, now held at the University Library of Southern Denmark. It originates from Herlufsholm boarding school, founded 1565, and bears the school's ex libris and stamp. It is not known how Herlufsholm acquired the book. A provenance note on the title page is blacked out, but possibly begins with the name "Christian" and ends with "Egmondey" (?). There appears to be a remnant of an old spine label or mark containing the number 3, further indicating that this volume - like most of the school's books - was part of a private library before it was given to Herlufsholm.
Late sixteenth or early seventeenth century laced-case binding over cardboard boards, three endbands with visible lace attachment. It at some point had laces to hold the book block closed, but these are no longer there. Restored by bookbinder Axel Pedersen (A.P. Kons.) in 1976 according to a stamp on the back endleaf.
