Book Decoration and Musical Notation

Description

The decoration is limited to embellished red initials.

  • Musical Notation

The anterior fragment, at the top of the outward-facing verso, has staffless neumes for the chant Montes Gelboe nec ros nec. The line directly below references Planxit autem David planctu magno.

The notation style is most similar to cheironomic or in campo aperto (staffless neumes), which typically predate 1200.
