Illuminated leaf from a fifteenth-century French Book of Hours, with prayers from the Office of the Holy Cross (Compline).

Book Decoration and Musical Notation

Description

Illuminated initials and line fillers in gold with red and blue backgrounds, framed and filled with decorative white lines, outlined in black. 2 line fillers, 6 single-line initials, 2 two-line height initials, 1 four-line (at "Conuertere nos deus" on recto), all in the same geometric style.
