Water damage, especially on the tail and fore-edge. The recto side of the leaf is particularly worn, with loss of text. The leaf was clearly used as a book cover, with the recto side constituting the outer side of the cover.

    It appears that MS Ripon Cathedral Fragments/6 was the former cover of the volume. The book currently has a modern alum-tawed leather binding over paper boards.
