History

Provenance

Donated to University of Victoria Special Collections by Bruce and Dorothy Brown in 2003. At the time of donation was displayed in frame along with UVic Fragm.Brown.Lat.9, erroneously thought to be from the same Book of Hours.

Remarks

Fragm.Brown.Lat.8 was stored and displayed with Fragm.Brown.Lat.9 by the donors. This storage history led the UVic Special Collections to store the fragments in the same folder and presume the two were from the same Book of Hours. However, differences in size, script, decoration, number of lines, and mise-en-page confirm that these two fragments are not from the same book.
