Remarks
Text is divided in rubricated chapters. Chapter CLXI ('Een berespen up dleven van der weerelt') starts on fol. [1]ra, chapter CLXII ('Van stervene ende hoe elc mensce mach segghen: ic ga sterven') starts on fol. [1]va.
History
The fragment was initially discovered at the Oudenaarde city archives. It is unknown how and when the fragment entered the collection of Ghent University Library, but this must have happened in the nineteenth century. De Vreese assumes the involvement of collector Constant Serrure.
Host Volume
Probably used as cover for a register containing a description of landed properties and rents related to the parish of Anzegem. Fol. [1]v has an inscription in Dutch in a sixteenth-century hand: 'Dit es dtbescheet van mijn lant gheleghen binnen die parhie van Andseghem'. Anzegem is parish close to Oudenaarde, where the fragment was discovered.
