A fine early Caroline minuscule written by a single hand. A display script with uncial titles for the Bible readings.
Original Condition
Current Condition
The two bifolia have been cut and pasted on wooded boards at the front and back of the incunabulum. The reverses remain largely inaccessible.

There is some light staining and wear to the parchment and evidence of wood worm damage.
Book Decoration and Musical Notation
Four red and white penwork initial 'I's (In illo temp[ore]...) of between 4 and 7 lines high with geometric and vegetal motifs, marking the openings of new Bible readings.

New Bible readings are announced by a display script highlighted with red ink.
