More about the Current Condition

Two leaves from the same manuscript have been detached, trimmed and repurposed as pastedowns in the host volume.

-

The front of fragment 1 and the dorse of fragment 2 bear traces of the binding's brown leather turn-ins indicating this side of the leaves was originally outward facing. The parchment on the these sides is stained and worn in places, while that facing inwards is better preserved.

-

The sewing stations of the host volume are also visible, indicating the leaves would have been hooked around the first and last quires.
