General Remarks

The fragment was possibly part of a miscellany that contained several different chivalric romances. The fragments Brussels, KBR, II 719 (49) and Leeuwarden, Tresoar, 1804 Hs. may have come from this manuscript as well.

The exact identity of the work is not known. The text mentions the characters Ghaleane, Karel, Ydier, Roelant, Hemeloen, Claroen, Belloen and Garijn, which identify it as a text in the matière de France tradition. The place names Jerusalem ('Jeruzalem') and Acre ('Akers') are mentioned as well.
