Origin

Written in Italy, possibly in Florence, in the first quarter of teh fifteenth centry (we thank Professor A. C. de la Mare for this information; July, 1986).

Provenance

Sold by Thorpe, London, 1836, no. 991 ("991" in pencil, front endleaves, ff. ii and iii) to Sir Thomas Phillipps (Phillipps Cat. p. 153, MS 9618; "9618" in black ink inside front cover and endleaf, f. iiiv); Phillipps sale, London, Sotheby's May 1, 1903, no. 907 (clipping inside front cover), to Maggs. Unidentified bookseller's note, front endleaf, f. ii: "Nc 234 0"; inside front cover, shelf mark (?), in pencil: "B11.385"; inside back cover "201" in pencil. Given by Daniel B.
