Book Decoration and Musical Notation
Description
Printed in 24 long lines, with 3 line captions under four individual historiated metal cuts.
Metal cuts: Floriated inner vertical borders and geometric upper borders; historiated lower borders. Outer vertical border on recto contains historiated panels depicting Biblical scenes. Outer vertical border contains inhabited panel depicting Minerva. Some cuts contain early examples of the "criblé" technique.
With 1-, 2-, and 3-line illuminated intials alternating in red and blue. The initials have smudged over time and show that they were created using different ink and done manually.
With marginal annotations and pen trials in an early modern hand, some soiling.
