Gradual
F-6rqx
General Information
Northern gothica textualis formata.
Original Condition
Medieval foliation in Roman numerals (rubricated) in upper right corner.
Current Condition
On fol. 52r, 53r-v, 82v and 87r-v, paper strips with different musical notation were pasted to the manuscript at a later point in time. This was possibly done to make corrections to the original musical notation.
All five preserved bifolia contain a later-added note in the upper right corner of the upper folio ('IN 35' up to 'IN 39'); the fragments were possibly used as covers for registers.
Fol. 80 is incomplete, only two parts of the top half of the leaf are preserved.
Book Decoration and Musical Notation
Gilded historiated initials depicting religious scenes (fol. 68r, 80r, 82v, 87v).
Gilded bars with floral borders (bracket-left, fol. 68r, 80r, 82v, 87v).
Pen-flourished initials and versals, alternately in red and blue ink, both plain and parted (fol. 87r), often with marginal extensions. Cadels with red colour stroking; these contain figured pen drawings in some cases.
Red rubrication, underlining and colour stroking.
Square notation on four red lines.
