History
S. Italy
The host MS belonged to Timotei Cipariu, and came to Cluj from the Central Library in Blaj. Cipariu edited and commented the Horatian fragment on f. 1 in 1857. On the front pastedown, the MS bears the former shelfmark of the Blaj library (s. XIX): ‘N˚ 171’. Another former shelfmark: ‘Cod. 1’, s. XX (front pastedown). On the front pastedown a 19th-c. hand wrote in pencil ‘67 Bll.’ [=Blätter]. On the rear pastedown, one can read ’24 F.’ written in pencil by a hand s. XX, and ‘15’, written by a hand s. XIX. Cipariu purchased this manuscript and another twelve volumes in December 1856 from the Viennese antiquarian Johann Schratt for 6 florins.
Host Volume
Modern cardboard binding (s. XIX). The fragment was most likely the front flyleaf in the original binding.
