Acta Sylvestri

Exeter, Exeter Cathedral Library, F/04

General Information

Title Acta Sylvestri
Shelfmarks F/04
Material Parchment
Date of Origin 12th century
Script, Hands

Copied by a single hand in Protogothic script from the first half of the twelfth century. Lateral compression is already visible, especially in the increasingly oval shape of o. However, this is not so evident in other shapes such as d, g or p. The feet of r and tall s stand on the baseline, whereas that of f often reaches below. Ascenders and descenders are rather short, although round-shaped d and s are mostly absent. The bow forming the ct-ligature is mostly disconnected. Elision found in f+i, t+i and t+u.
