More about the Condition

Another fragment of one of these leaves is kept at Krakow (Kraków, Biblioteka Jagiellonska, Ms. germ. 4° 1895, 4). This is the top half of the same leaf as the Leuven Fragment F and is called 'Fragment E' because of this.

Fragments of both leaves were cut in half, with only the bottom half of both leaves being preserved. The fragments were conserved in the late 1980s by restoration workshop 'De Tiendschuur' (Tilburg, The Netherlands).

Remarks

The fragments were used as pastedowns in the binding. They were discovered and identified in 1985. In the 16th century the host volume was owned by a certain Vinceslas Hagemeiers (provenance mark on second flyleaf of host volume: 'Jure Haereditatis [sum] Vincislai Hage[meie]rs a [...b]en Weiller'). Afterwards, the host volume was owned by the counts of Thun und Hohenstein, at Tetschen. The host volume was later acquired by the Belgian insurance company Assurantie van de Belgische Boerenbond in 1965 and then at an unknown date but before 1985 by Leuven University Library.
