Gregorius IX, Decretales

F-2ii2

Antwerpen, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, Verzameling Losse Aanwinsten, nr. 15.19

General Information

Title Gregorius IX, Decretales
Shelfmarks Antwerp, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, Verzameling Losse Aanwinsten, nr. 15.19
Material Original bifolia: parchment; added bifolia: paper.
Date of Origin s. XIV and s. XV additions
Script, Hands

Main text block and glosses of the original bifolia in a gothica textualis libraria (s. XIV), with a strong tendency towards a semitextualis. The execution of the letter 'a' alternates between a double compartment and a single compartment letter 'a'. In the glosses, the 'a' is most often realised with one compartment. However, that may be the result of small (and rapid) writing. Text of the later added bifolia in a gothica cursiva currens (s. XV)

General Remarks

The fragment consists of a quinio with 3 original bifolia (s. XIV) alternating with 2 added bifolia (s. XV). The outer, thirth and inner bifolium are the original ones (fol. 1; 3; 5; 6; 8; 10). The second and fourth bifolium are sewn in later (fol. 2; 4; 7; 9). Possibly, the compiled quire functioned as a loose booklet (cf. Antwerpen, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, Verzameling Losse Aanwinsten, nr. 15.20).

History

Remarks

According to a note in the folder in which the fragment is kept, the fragment was used as a cover for a register of the estates and revenues of the Carthusian monks of Antwerp, drawn up in 1427: "Proviens de la couverture d'un registre des biens et revenus des chartreux d'Anvers, dressé en 1427".
