Vellum leaf from a (? Cistercian) Missal. The recto proceeds from the secret of the mass for Friday of Ember Days followed by Pentecost to the collect, or prayer, in the mass for Saturday of the same Ember Days. Text closely accords with the Sarum Missal, ed. J. W. Legg, Oxford 1969, p. 167.
With eight initials in bright red (from 45 to 18 mm.) and slightly ornamented, initial-strokes in red.
Written in a protogothic script, 24 long lines to a page.

A splendid Missal-leaf, with wide margins. The robust monumental script shows that the missal was intended for use at a public lectern.
