History

Provenance

Fol. [1]r contains a large inscription, a 16th century Dutch addition, in brownish ink: "het hof va(n) Maloys".

The fragment originates from the house archive of the noble family de Menten de Horne and their ancestors (15th-19th century). It was probably removed from its host volume when the archive was donated to the State Archives of Antwerp (Rijksarchief te Antwerpen). The archive of the family de Menten de Horne contains several records concerning arrangements with the court of Maloys (see below).

Antwerp, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, Verzameling Losse Aanwinsten, nr. 2.38 contains a similar provenance: "1597 MALOYS" (fol. [1]r)

Host Volume

Remarks

The fragment probably functioned as a cover, but has been removed from its host volume. The host volume must be sought in the house archive of the noble family de Menten de Horne and their ancestors (15th-19th century): Antwerp, Rijksarchief te Antwerpen, FA De Menten De Horne.

As mentioned above, this archive contains several records concerning arrangements with the court of Maloys, see: Inventory of the archives donated by the family de Menten de Horne
