The host books were printed in Cologne in 1627 and 1628. The front flyleaf contains a handwritten weather calendar for the first days of January 1642:
"Dies anni 1642 primi duodecim, correspondentes duodecim anni mensibus.
1. Ianuarii fuit mane pluvium tota nubilum tempus.
2. Prima nocte pluit tota; dies tota fuit nubilum..."
In the 17th and 18th c., the host volume belonged to the Jesuits of Cluj ("Domus Patrum Monostoriensis, 1670" (title page); "Colegii Societatis Jesu Claudiopolitani, 1764" (title page). In the 19th century, the book beloged to the Catholic high school of Cluj, the successor of the Jesuit college: "Bibliotheca Lycaei Claudiopolitani, 1832" (title page).
