"Gloria tibi domine qui natus... / ...Q[uo]ni[am] novit d[omi]n[u]s via[m] justo[rum]",
Psalm 1, from a fifteenth-century Book of Hours known as the Hours of St. Alexis. Fully bordered with acanthus, rinceaux and other plants and berries (e.g. rasberries). Recto roundel: A man dressed in blue (King David) sits on the right with two people kneeling and praying- one in blue and one in yellow-- opposite him. Verso roundel: Five figures on a background of grass, trees and sky. Two men, two women, and a difficult to identify figure in a red robe. One figure holds a two-pronged implement pointed at three of the other figures, who are being pushed off the right border of the illustration.
