Reconstruction Summary

"...nec dimittis me ut.../...opprimas me opus ma..."

This leaf is from a 15th-century Book of Hours titled "The Hours of St. Alexis," which was dismembered in the 1980s. This leaf is held by Charles Puckett Rare Books, stock number 1472, and the current location unknown. The leaf has a colorful border of acanthus leaves, rinceaux, birds, and other plants that frames the text. The margins include roundel images on both the recto and verso. This image on the recto depicts two men in white robes conversing with one another, likely a priest and an acolyte. The man on the left is holding an open book, while the man on the right is gesturing to the other. The image on the verso portrays a conversation between Alexis, wearing the blue robes, and his father, wearing the red robes. The identities of these figures are known due to the labels of "pere" and "Alexis" in the image.
