From a fifteenth-century Book of Hours known as the St. Alexis Hours. Full border of acanthus and rinceaux in gold and colors with birds and other creatures. Roundel miniature in the outer central margin of recto and verso. Recto: the bride alone in bed, captioned "lespousee." There is also an historiated initial M of "Manus tue domine" showing two heads (the squire and his bride?). Verso: a man on his knees in prayer at the foot of a bed, captioned " Alexis," with his bride waiting for him, captioned "femme." This leaf is housed in an oversize folder.
