The fragment is worn and difficult to read in several places.

One hand, Northern Textualis.
Red lombards.The missing beginning of the fragment precludes any assessment of the clefs; similarly. The absence of custodes can be ascertained by inspecting the turnins (invisibile on photo). This argues for a dating before 1500. The notation represents a characteristic Silesian variant of the Messine notation, datable no later than the second half of the 14th century.Poland (Silesia?) on account of the musical notation.
The book was printed in Cracow in 1582, in defence of the Unitarian pastor of Cluj, Dávid Ferenc. In 1602-1625 the book was already in Cluj. The earliest owner seems to be: "M[artinus] Ch[ristophorus] Belga l[ugdunensis] b[atavorum]? ... de A[nno] 1602. 12 die Maij" (sub rasura, title page of host book). On the front flyleaf, a later hand wrote: "1625 die 28 Aprillis. Reverendus Dominus Martinus Samariay, Pastor Ecclesiae Unitariorum Claudiopolitanae excesit e vivis, inter tertiam et quartam horam Matutinam: die Veneris." (front flyleaf).
